Our teachers are experienced, caring and competent educators. Mountain Valley Preschool follows NAEYC's standards for professional development which means that every member of our staff holds a degree in Child Development or is is currently in the pursuit of one. All of our staff continues to receive in-service training throughout the year in topics such as Emergency Preparedness, Special Needs and Sensory/Language Development, STEM curriculum and Positive Discipline.
Our curriculum blends aspects of Reggio Emilia and Montessori learning styles, stressing care for the environment, care for self, critical thinking and problem solving, knowledge exploration and curiosity, and social skills. In addition, our school follows kindergarten readiness standards to ensure that each child is prepared to meet the social and academic expectations of elementary school. This includes reading (or pre-reading), writing, and early math.
Our goal at Mountain Valley Preschool is to create a warm and caring atmosphere where creativity and learning can flourish. By building a sense of community throughout our school and teaching kindness, manners and responsibility alongside our academic curriculum we hope to create an atmosphere that meets each child at their social and cognitive level in a nurturing yet challenging way.
